The events of the movie begin with all of the people welcoming the New Year except for Morgan who sleeps all through, After hearing the sound of fireworks outside her window, she gets up and prepares for bed. Since it is too quiet and she is the only occupant of the house, she checks a cupboard to make sure the hand gun is safe. Later, like in some of other movies, a man enters the house. He beats Morgan with a gun and then ties up her hands behind her back. Soon after we go back to the time when Morgan is taken in for her first childbirth with her child, Kevin.
Kevin is born a premature baby who has heart problems of a substantial magnitude. As a result, doctors work on him as soon as they manage to remove him from Morgan. His survival chances do not seem to be very high. In a short time, there is some unfortunate news. Kevin passes away while the grieving Morgan is cradling his corpse and singing to him. Rodney, her husband sits next to her to comfort her. They make efforts to forget about Kevin, but it is apparent that Morgan cannot let go of the fact that a child, her first child has died. And in that case, she is concerned about the child of hers which is Kevin.
What Happens during one of Kevin’s birthday parties?
Morgan has come to an understanding that the only way she will be able to get over the horrible situation where she lost a son is by making attempts to conceive again. This is something she confesses to Rodney. The couple has two lovely children together, and they enjoy eight quiet years. Every year, Morgan and Rodney throw a birthday party for their son Kevin and invite a handful of family and friends in order to always keep his memory alive in some way. However, this never-ending memory of something that seems to be harmless takes a turn for Morgan towards the end.
On one of those meetings, as usual, frustration fills Morgan when she hears that Kevin is not in the good books of Rodney. Here, she encounters a guy called Griffith. The man is recently bereaved considering the loss of his wife and she tries to soothe him as best as she can. When Morgan comes back home, she is informed that her omission to go for collection of the children from school has forced Rodney to clock out of the office which results in his dismissal from work. For days, Rodney seems to be at ease concerning this as he is comfortably well off in the stocks, and their tomorrows are quite safe too.
On the day of Kevin’s birthday, Rodney states to his one of the friends that he had believed that Morgan shall have gotten over Kevin, this was however not the case. With days going on however, she comes to know that such medicines have been given to her that make a person feel in a state of loss over Kevin. Not long after, Morgan finds herself positioned at the bottom of the stairs. When she eventually opens her eyes, her husband is seen shouting at her for previously throwing him down the stairs. When the wife is plunged into confusion, the next morning Morgan is startled to find her parents booing her for her attitude toward her husband Rodney.
How Does Morgan Come to the Decision of Divorce with Rodney?
Rodney is starting to become suspicious as he fears that Morgan may be cheating on him. He displays a letter as well as an email from Griffith stating that he would no longer be with Morgan. When Morgan attends her discussion with Griffith, she attempts to explain to him why he must get in touch with Rodney but he says that it is out of the question. Almost immediately afterward, Nicole witnesses an argument between Rodney and Morgan and, upon approaching the scene, captures it on film, tangentially.
Nicole shares the footage with Morgan where she identifies Rodney as the person who hits her and later converses with her. This in fact brings to the light the fact that Morgan was actually pushed down the stairs by Rodney, and then he intentionally jumped himself to portray it that it was all her doing in the ending. Even she took this inside herself when she saw her most favorite purse which she bought for herself as a gift, and this time it was drenched in urine stains. She draws a line and does not control her wrath as she feels pushed to the limits and retaliates towards Rodney. Even her children rally behind and support Morgan, in this tussle, against their father. So afterwards, Morgan decides to go away from Rodney. Rodney brings out the pistol in a bid to stop them, but Morgan walks around him anyway.
How Do the Police rescue Morgan?
It now looks like things have changed because Rodney has behaved quite nicely for quite some time now. Children sometimes go for outings with him while according to the law, which brings about joy within Morgan’s soul. Even though she is now living with the children, more often than not, Nicole is with her. Then one day, Rodney shows her the medical documents concerning Morgan’s health but also makes her aware of his Wayne’s cancer diagnosis. The next day, he stays overnight at Morgan’s residence because he is aware of her circumstances. Still, nothing happens through the entire night. In the morning, Morgan says goodbye to her husband. He leaves her with an unanswered question. What does he winthe battle with cancer, or the ability to rebuild their relationship? Morgan makes it abundantly clear that she will ever be loyal to him but only as a friend.
On New Year’s Eve, Morgan decides to put the gun Rodney, who intended to go to a meeting instead, had given her for protection. She is alone and follows this with the thought that she must have something nearby. However, what Morgan does not understand is that the meeting was a lie and her husband was probably out golfing. Anyway, Morgan is soon confronted by a masked man, who ironically is recognized for his eyes. Yes, it is the same Rodney who had tied Morgan up and raped her.
Before long, the man is gone and just then, Rodney walks in as if his very presence is the one which has rescued Morgan. As a result, the police have no trouble with Rodney calling them. When the police arrive, Morgan, for some reason, tells one officer that Rodney himself was and is the attacker. Now, the police go ahead and ask how Rodney, who seems to have no issues with attending to Morgan’s safety, is aware of her requirement. Terribly, Rodney is not able to respond to the question and the police officers handcuff him and take him away, accusing him of intruding and physical violence.
In the end, Rodney confesses all his sins and regrets his actions during the relationship. Morgan goes to the stand and tells Rodney that it is he who has given her the good-looking kids and that she guarantees that the kids will never see him again. She is furthermore very explicit that if someone loves someone, he will not tie one’s arms, and he will not shoot someone so that any part of her face is bruised.
