And so you have met the love of your life, you know that this is not an ordinary love however the beginning is quite rough. What’s unfortunate is the circumstances surrounding this person; they are ill. Not a cold, but ‘You have about a year to live’ sort of pain. Is there still space for love. Would it help the relationship in any way. The yet to be released film by Andscape and Hulu named She Taught Love explores the life of a couple growing stronger while a clock looms close by.

The film was written by and stars Darrell Britt Gibson who play Frank Cooper, an up and coming actor who sabotages himself at every turn. That was until his ill attempts at flirting in the grocery store landed him a date with Mali Waters (Arsema Thomas) a sports agent who has everything going for her, except time, because she knows she has cancer and it turns into a race against time. She Taught Lovewhich she was yearning for throughout the process. However, obstacles are easily seen through a telescope as the two try to not only maintain the connection, but resolve their personal conflicts along the way.

It’s a release on Hulu in cooperation with Andscape and honestly, allow me to put it on record, they didn’t have to go off like that! And this is for stand alone streaming releases and more tailored specifically for romantic dramas: I expect the quality of production to be something along the lines of the rearview camera in a Hyundai Sonata (no shade intended). I understand what budgets for steaming exclusive releases are these days and what to expect. Yet, director Nate Edwards and director of photography Justin Derry managed to invent a lived in, skipping some dimensions filtered through cozy lens of familiarity where characters can be identified from the word go. Throughout the film there were countless instances of wordless sequences interspersed in the action that caused awe. You can see warmth emanating from the screen.

Romantic drama is well executed in this regard; it could be argued that the concept has been done to death. Sure, the cancer love story is common, but it never becomes sickly sweet. For the third time, it is possible to see a believable world in the film. The tension remains there as long as a person’s life is at risk, but it never acts in a sense of melodrama. The diverse cast of actors also has this to do. Both Britt Gibson and Thomas are charming together, and you feel their chemistry through the good and bad moments throughout the film.

This film got dumped on Hulu without anyone noticing and it’s a real shame because in an alternative reality this could have turned into a viral hit and firmly stayed within the top 15 chart of Hulu’s most popular films. This sounds like an old man who has 87 years of automobile enthusiasm but they truly do not create things like this any more. Adult films have right now been divided into blockbuster and indie drama categories. To have a mid budget film of this scope and style go straight to sreeming after just being released is quite a disappointment and we do not deserve it.

You should think about incorporating a movie like this one into your home watching because the fall season is already here, Halloween decorations are already being put out in the neighborhood, and apple cider is already being warmed on the stove.
