Movie Review
Hello once again people, thanks for staying tuned. Some of the best comedies originate from the day to day comical situations and the film’s writers are known to exploit such events. This is the first feature film from Brandon Tamburri who has written and directed the film and co-written it with Jean S Monpere who in this work takes a laughable premise that just dev rises and happens sooner than many of us caring to think about an inebriated woman gets laid and impregnated. Her tree of decision is suspicious leading to interesting drama with real world elements. In this case, as the filmmakers confess, they approached the problem quite humorously.
Jamie Lee, who played in Crashing, portrays Piper: the woman who, upon returning home after a night out, hits her neighbour Evan Ebert. Jon Heder does appear in “Blockers”: many don’t probably recognize him since “Napoleon Dynamite” (2004); though he has been working regularly all this time. Many people will be startled when he appears as Evan, the friendly and slightly eccentric character who -opportunely- happens to be the neighbor. Evan is an Uber driver by day, has a cat named Cat Sajak, and has for some reported reasons held an admiration for Piper. In contrast, Piper is the type of person who, upon learning she is expecting, simply chooses not to inform Evan of that fact and sets out to find a more suitable Baby Daddy.
To make the repulsive nature of Piper’s scheme slightly more acceptable, comedy is introduced into almost every scene. Piper’s roommate Maya (Subhah Agarwal, writer on “The Jim Jeffries Show”) serves as an embodiment of woman’s conscience, slightly uxorious Kohli as repented tinka, but eventually scurries away from her support out of loyalty to her beloved. A handsome and successful businessman who is Koper’s regulars at the coffee shop is found to be severely feminine and becomes a victim of Lisa’s plot for deadline restraints. Know that this is very much done for comic effect, which includes Shannon Elizabeth (AMERICAN PIE, 1999) as Cameron’s inappropriate boss who loves cheesecake; Kate Flannery (“The Office”) as a publisher who seems fascinated to know about Piper’s Instagram “I Spy Love”; and Tom Berenger (who has the most dazzlingly white dentures) and Suzanne Savoy as Lisa’s actors’ parents.
In the event that wasn’t persuasive, the nice Evan also offers to take Piper to her Lamaze class … which is taught by a former NFL player Vernon Davis who is a tough guy. Once more, all the funny aspects of the story about Piper doing this and that (and the things she does) in a totally daft way- most of it is farce. Naturally, we all do understand how this is going to end so really its just whether you can appreciate the funny parts as well as the development in Piper.
