Mutants of Nature Cove

Beth is dragged by her party-girl friends to a nude beach which is home to some savage Mutants, which lead to hallucinogenic experiences. Chants are heard by a strange woman, and then Mutants begin to attack. Beth comes up with a dangerous plan to trap the soul-thieving Mutants in the fires of hell for all eternity.

Getting any worse than that would be very difficult indeed; Mutants of Nature Cove is not just low-budget but an abysmal piece of work in all respects, except the sheer amount of naked skin you’ll come across. If this was a film with some budget provided, they definitely did not know how to capitalize it, because even those awful college-level projects on one’s first attempt look more polished than this monstrosity.

The bad, written and directed by Beau Mann, The plot of Mutants of Nature Cove is non-existent, as it only follows a group of women who travel to a secluded nude beach inhabited by mutant monsters. These monsters cause hallucinations which are devilish in nature and possibly have something to do with a warped fantasy that wants to destroy every living thing. It is up to the girls to stop them, defend the students of nudism on the beach and save the world while doing so.

Or something like that. It is genuinely difficult to focus on the bad narrative as every single shot of Mutants of Nature Cove is full of poor green screen, bad acting, pathetic monster effects and sounds that seem to be recorded in a shed somewhere. If all of this wasn’t bad enough, there isn’t a single actor who is not naked in this film, and they remain so throughout the film.

Does the story need that to function? No, it does not, and too many of the cast look quite vulnerable when they have to go without clothes all through. Though perhaps, that can be attributed to the fact that they are all terrible actors and try to deliver the most enervating, starfish like lines possible and move in unfortunate ways.

Most will not go past the 10 minute mark before they turn off this celluloid trash. For most people, the very moment it becomes obvious that the unconvincing greenscreened everything and the horrid sound are the actual effects the movie is using, that will be the time to turn off this abomination. Early on, one can clearly see its low production value, and it never improves. In fact, the situation is made worse with the monster effects, and the advent of extra green screened locations.

You can’t help but believe that, but it truly does get bad from here. It is safe to say it gets worse and worse.

Perhaps the only possibility of defending such an outrageously horrible movie is the idea or rather the assumption that the film is not meant to be that serious. Such an argument is plausible, except up to a certain point. Numerous no-budget horror movies groan and roll their eyes at the camera, but the major differentiation between these and the current production is that those films at least can be amusing.

Megastorm: Mutants of Nature Cove does not amuse. There is no fun, no entertainment, and no praise worth expending. One of the worst films to be ever made so far, unless your only concern is an overwhelming amount of nudity onscreen.
