A new film about Isabella County’s ‘catfishing mom’ will be aired on Mother’s Day by a cable television network.
The Lifetime Movie Network offers an exciting new film titled “Mommy Meanest,” which is loosely based on Kendra Gail Licari, a Beal City woman serving a 19-month to five-year sentence at Huron Valley women’s prison in Ypsilanti for stalking a minor. The show’s May 11 premiere, is at 8 pm.
The April 26th episode featured Lisa Rinna who played Madelyn, a divorced mother of daughter Mia, played by Briana Skye. The story revolves around the once close mother and daughter who begin to have issues as Mia spends more time with her boyfriend.
“In LMN’s marketing, the mother’s protective nature is portrayed as Neanderthal-like: when Mia starts receiving months of abusive messages, the mother sees red and tries to solve her daughter’s problems wherever she turns.” And this brings them closer again. “When the hundreds of texts become more slanderous, Mia moves away from her tension and over-envisions her cause is closer than they’ve imagined.”
The role of Mia’s friend, Summer, is also given to Rinna’s daughter, Delilah Hamlin.
This film will begin streaming on May 12 and follows a teenager who encounters such ceaseless cyber-bullying leading up to the finding that her mother has been the one sending her those harassing texts As per the information that has been provided by the Internet Movie Database About Movie.
In fact, Isabella County Trial Judge Mark Duthie imprisoned Licari, 43, in April of 2023 after she entered a guilty plea to two charges of stalking a minor; as part of the plea agreement, several additional charges were dropped Prosecutor David Barberi of Isabella County has filed three more charges that include one charge for obstruction of justice and two additional charges that fall under the use of computer in the commission of a crime.
Licari was accused of catfishing–creating a fake online persona through electronic messages–her daughter and one of her daughter’s friends, sending what Duthie called “disturbing and hateful” messages.
Licari burst into tears during her sentencing and expressed remorse to the judge over the hurt pain and confusion that spanned several months that her actions inflicted on the victims including a teen whom she actually tried to pin the whole scam on, her daughter, and husband.
In as much as Duthie stated that he understood where Licari is coming from as she wanted help for issues related to her mental health, at the same breath he condemned her behavior.
Licari claimed he did not wish to be remembered for things like the moon landing and that all aspects of the case have eliminated any potential. Duthie made comments related to the case during a WMTV interview, stating ”This is truly a horrible case” and lambasting the anonymity afforded by the internet.
Fortunately, it is only a persistent campaign of harassment that Licari waged against them all. Licari even attempted to convince investigators that the messages were sent by one of the victims which she says was premeditated to the extreme.
It is still unknown if Licari will watch the movie, he is the one who has purchased it. A spokesman for Michigan Department said that every state facility has a fund exclusively for prisoners which is obtained from store purchases by prisoners and some other bills from girlfriends or families.
Kyle Kaminski, the MDOC representative, affirms that they also buy things like cable television for the inmates. Prisons have cable packages and channels include the Lifetime channel which enhanced Licari’s viewing possibilities if the movie is ever aired.
Lifetime is a cable network based in the US and a member of Lifetime Entertainment Services which falls under the ownership of A&E Networks in conjunction with Hearst and The Walt Disney Company.
