Their first war broke out in 1978 due to a lightning storm, but they didn’t seem to wreak too much havoc, but now in 2024. They’re looking for fresh meat to devour.
Just like 1978, Witches have come yet again with an electrical storm in place. After some time there was a girl named Alexa (Karis Peterson) who’s looking for the death comet which appears after every couple of decades. A comet that’s shaped as a skull and after viewing the comet shiny whirl she goes inside while looking after her brother Cameron; it was so spectacular that she couldn’t help but run.
Both the siblings see a green bolt flash lightning and as Cameron can see clay figurines, he spots three farmers. While Alexa can’t see any of them. One of those farmers was Earle (William Trujillo) who then ran to Pastor Gates (Heath C. Heine) claiming the witches have returned.
But they’ve done what they did last time and two people survived that encounter, Pastor Gate, who lost an eye, and Earle, who says that there’s no way out for anyone, they will be slaughtered. Earle claims he saw them, claimed they landed behind the church, where they always have.
Cameron, with his friend Gretchen (Heather Strickland), follows two officials who are collecting goo in the field. Gretchen must be somewhat of a nuisance for Cameron’s mother (Pam Renall) and even Alexa, for both mothers do not appreciate her company.
Anyhow, they plan to get into the field again that night to try their luck but instead come across the witches. They charge towards them after hearing Gretchen munch a chip but while she escapes, Cameron suddenly sees a creature.
After getting back, she picks up the phone and reports them to the military. But it seems that Cameron is indeed under their spell which prompts his mother to seek Father Fontoni (Joe Bocian), who is popularly known as ‘The Excersiser’.
After this incident, Alexa and two of her female companions run for it but are chased by the witches and when two of her female friends get attacked, she rushes towards Pastor Gates in hopes to seek help.
The sheriff (Kristi Davis) arrives and as she goes to the region of the forest, she comes across the witches’ webs and two corpses hanging from trees. Now this is one of those times when she is starting to put the puzzle pieces together.
Since his high school is holding a Halloween party, Zane (Anthony Laurita) wishes to take Alexa out with him, but again Alexa has to stay with Cameron since their mom is working dangerously late in the restaurant.
And with under twenty children in attendance at the party, a plan that includes two boys in skeleton costumes is to balloon the freshmen and other students. But their plans come to an end when they are assaulted by ‘the witches’.
At the Clare house, the family has been overruled by the witches and they learn that it is water which will destroy them. So, they flood them out and proceed to the school to save the trapped students.
Everyone is going crazy in the gym, which is fine because only one student gets webbed. But the poor ghouls, their fate is marked by icons X and O, as Zane and his buddy George (Robert Abbott) finally find them. George grabs the water balloons and douses the fiends with them.
For one of the reasons why I would like to review this movie is because it appeared quite entertaining little movie, because there are not many witch movies. Only these “witches” are not really witches at all.
Other than the very poor acting, a majority of the filming was done against a green screen and the special effects were quite horrible as well. And just when the screenwriter seems to have lost all control of his story, the endless sequence of the beginning credits occurs. Make sure to take a Dramamine pill to prevent the nausea.
I’m pretty sure the film had an interesting script. The title interested me as well (that’s why I watched it so you don’t have to) but I cannot go back and go for all that wasted time which I appallingly hate.
