By 2045 convicted criminals have been given the chance to participate in any popular sporting activities including arena wars, the top television sport viewed worldwide. It comprises seven rooms and more than seven of the strongest blood thirsty assassins America can offer, and if successful, they take back their liberty.

Movie Review
In the amply eventful world of film making and film criticism, with the two in hand, I can say that the faith genre is one time of a genre that I am more favorable of as compared to a few of my contemporaries. Due to its many limitations and flaws, it can also be the case as to why many audiences may not find themselves quite drawn to such works of art. That said however, the best director to have emerged in the genre of late has been’ Garrett batty; he has been able to direct such masterpieces in the form of Freetown as well as Out of Liberty. What is most remarkable about these films is the fact that he attempts to focus on the character itself over that of the religious work in making the film which is beneficial to making the story more appealing to people, whether they follow the sacred text or not. Faith of Angels is perhaps his worst film but it certainly has a good story to it in what I could only describe as underwhelming. What a shame!

After all this time, it was a great opportunity to have a discussion with Garrett and John Michael Finley, a key character of the film, for the Hallmarkies Podcast.

The events of the movie Faith of Angels revolve around Joshua Dennis where a tragic incident occurs where he gets trapped in an abandoned mine in Tooele, Utah. A member of the search team, Skinner, feels like he should help but his offers are refused due to the past events where volunteers from the community were involved in the search for someone but the operation went terribly wrong.

The most interesting part in this film for me is the evolution Skinner undergoes. As a believer, I can understand how one would grapple between the need to do what is right, and the expectations his/her surroundings impose. Isn’t that what faith entails? To perform an action and to have a conviction about something that cannot be placed into words but one knows in his/her heart as the truth? This is a particularly difficult idea to portray and quite iurt et al’s team tackled the challenge with aplomb.

The rest of the plot concerning Joshua is compelling enough, even if at times the tempo feels like it’s dragging and certain shots feel as though they are being repeated. Nonetheless, if you are looking for an uplifting tale of a truly amazing miracle in today’s world, then Faith of Angels should satisfy your expectations. This is a film which does not require one to be a Latter day Saint because most of the action takes place in a cave setting which is neutral religiously.
