Effervescent Rachel Boudwin has hopped right into her film, Boot Camp, which lets the audience know that it has a beautiful storyline about the sexiness of self confidence and not just professionally good looking people. Rachel’s beauty is hierarchical and it is understandable that she’s a newcomer. In contrast with movies like 2001’s Bridget Jones’s Diary in which more than more than one for much less pratfalls of a curvy lead actress ends with her back bum in general close up, Boot Camp’s lead or her physiology is not the butt of the industry joke: It has a pleasantly positive view on things.
A supplier of provocative literature and Jeffrey’s overweight upset Whitney had always believed herself to be “neither pretty nor the right size,” but her friends and family adored her because she was confidence. Yet after a series of humiliating moments during what was meant to be a prom night to cherish, Whitney figures the best way to cope is to join a high intensity fitness program that spans 6 weeks. And she won’t object if along the way she earns a ‘revenge body’.
To Whitney’s shock, she comes up against her arch nemesis in high school, the frail Willow (Rachel Boyd, The Bold Type), who propels her to the brink of quitting. However, the sense of belonging and winning faith in the camp around Whitney provides quick relief not to mention a handsome instructor, Axel (Drew Ray Tanner, Riverdale).
Gina Musa’s popular story on Wattpad just like the script Gemma Holdway wrote for Seasoned with Love does not only leave a viewer with joy, it feels authentic as well for it leaves out the unnatural positivity. Some of that skilfully comes from head coach Cindy (Emmanuelle Chriqui, Superman & Lois), a former model and Walker’s mother. She refers to weight as just one factor, emphasizing health and inner strength, stating, “We all have been programmed to view the world in a very specific manner.” cinderella the sensuous. However, Whitney is not made meek nor politically motivated by the director Mr. Munro. They don’t zoom on the body of Whitney and focus on her emotions as an ‘endearing’ supporting actress moving through the plot.
Once in a while she would be sad due to Willow’s constant snickering, yet she possesses enough humor and self confidence for viewers to understand why her the love letters from her numerous campers appear to be very sincere. Plus, she has chemistry with Tanner whose Axel is very sweet and funny as he starts bonding with Whitney. Tanner too appreciates fantasy literature and the moment Owen finds out that she pictures herself as a courageous storyteller who plays the role of an archer in many fantasy novels, he is very supportive. The camera has one amusing revealing moment, hovering over Whitney and slowly explaining everything from head to toe and yes, he also finds her hot.
There are one or two places in Boot Camp where, much to the audience’s irritation, the narrative can’t decide how to keep the couple apart .That said, the entertaining supporting characters take over those places, and it is impossible to avoid their applause and affection. Even the inevitable Warming up time between Whitney and Willow is portrayed convincingly and comes in the right moment just towards the end of the movie giving an appealing look. With its beautiful lakeside setting, catchy music, and a couple worth supporting, Boot Camp is a pleasantly delightful vacation.
